Meanings:
Palembang city is known for its unique Batik cloth, which is produced by using the tie-dye technique. The word Jumputan means the tie-dye technique, while the word Bintang refers to the stars in English. This motif is inspired by the symbol of stars and the creation of the universe. The making process of this beautiful textile requires a lot of patience and minutious detail in order to obtain the desired star patterns on the textile.

Batik production can take 1 month up to 2 years of working time depending on the purposes of the textile creation and the colour complexity. The Batik handwriting textile is generally made with 8 design steps, ranging from wax patterning to colouring process. The artists use Canting, as a tool to put hot melted wax on the cloth.
