Meanings:

This motif depicts a plant that begins to bloom as the rainy season begins. This motif reflects the joy and gratitude to God over the grace of rain. East Nusa Tenggara, in general, is known as the dry region of Indonesia. Therefore, the raindrops are considered as a great gift and it serves as a symbol of abundant blessings for the people of Kupang.

Batik Production Process in East Nusa Tenggara

Batik production can take 1 month up to 2 years of working time depending on the purposes of the textile creation and the colour complexity. The Batik handwriting textile is generally made with 8 design steps, ranging from wax patterning to colouring process. The artists use Canting, as a tool to put hot melted wax on the cloth.
