La Galigo
Meanings:
La Galigo is a literary work of the Buginese Epic that possesses 300.000 epic lines. This ancient literature is even longer than the story of the Indian Mahabharata. One of La Galigo episodes illustrates the origin of Sangiang Serrí, the ceremonial offerings tradition given by the farmers before the planting season. The local Batik artisans are inspired from the La Galigo epic stories to create the batik motifs.
