Brief Story:
This unique batik from East Kalimantan are made with various materials. Some are made from silk, semi-silk, pineapple fiber, cotton, and dobby woven textile. However, textile enthusiasts prefer batik made of silk, which is more comfortable to wear. Of course, the best silk fabrics are soft, comfortable, and fall perfectly on the skin, yet don’t be surprised if the price tag is quite high. Batik motif of this region illustrates Baanjung traditional house of the Banjar tribe and the Dayak Bakumpai. There is also a Sampe motif which is a typical musical instrument of East Kalimantan.
