Batik Villages in West Nusa Tenggara

support the local workshop

Brief Story:

Like other regions, West Nusa Tenggara also has its own unique local batik called Sasambo batik. The name of Sasambo Batik  itself is a combination of three ethnic groups in NTB Sasak in Lombok, Samawa in Sumbawa, and Mbojo in Bima. Sasambo batik consists of Made Sahe motif (cow’s eyes), Kakando motifs, and Uma Lengge ( Lombok traditional houses with cone roofs). Typical Batik of each region can also be distinguished from the style and color produced. What is unique from this Sasambo Batik is when the color is released. The unique aspect of Sasambo batik production is the use of heated iron to remove the wax material on the fabric. When you come to this region, you can also buy Batik produced by Senior High School students who involve in the batik making as an extracurricular activity. Are you interested in having Sasambo batik? Welcome you to West Nusa Tenggara!
